Product Development is Messy
September 23, 2020
I don’t remember when I saved this, but I think it broadly conveys that product development is messy. Some thoughts comparing the two paths…
- Insights can happen anytime, we can’t constrain them to a neatly-defined bucket at the start.
- Creating new products is full of uncertainty, the lower path supports this.
- What happens when we do learn? The top path doesn’t allow for mistakes or pivots.
- The top path seems more efficient, but not all efficiency leads to an effective “launch”.
- When processes are cemented, there is a cost to adapt — giving us one more reason we might not. 🤔 Anything else?
